Texas Mental Health Consumers, a Member of Community Shares of Texas since 2000 was forced to close its doors, other CSTX social justice organizations struggle to stay alive!
The economy is taking its toll on social justice organizations who provide services to and give a voice to the voiceless. Three long time Community Shares of Texas affiliate members have had to either close their doors or severely cut back resources because of the decline in charitable giving. Several social justice organizations are being forced to cut vital services that are most needed during these hard economic times.

Organizations like Community Shares of Texas (CSTX) and our social justice member organizations depend on donations from people like you to survive. During downturns in the economy some donors stop giving altogether, making it very challenging for non-profits to continue their good work in the community/ If you are one of our supportes, I hope you will consider a different strategy.
I encourage you to increase your donation - that's right increase it ! A donor can reduce the burden of a generous one-time donation with an annual pledge deposited on a monthly basis to the charity of your choice. Consider turning a $150.00 one-time donation into a $200.00 donation annually, which is less than $20.00 monthly. A monthly donation of $25, $15 or even $10 to CSTX will continue programs that empower and support social justice organizations in our Texas communities while providing the donor relief from a large one-time donation.
A donation now will ensure social justice organizations continue the important work of providing financial assistance to low-income families for housing, electric utilities and medical equipment; feeding the hungry, caring for the elderly and supporting services for our animal friends; fighting injustice and inequality and continuing community education programs and research to cure disease.
