To ALL who seek Social Justice!
homeless churchboy"More than material things; that what we face is above all a moral issue; that at stake are not just the details of policy, but the fundamental principles of social justice and the character of our country..." The late Senator Ted Kennedy to President Obama

Sustained change in this country has never happened without the mobilization of average citizens, changes in the attitudes that maintain the statues quo, improvement in public policies, and a social net that catches people when elderly homelessthey need help.  Community Shares of Texas (CSTX) is a statewide network of social justice organizations that are working to bring a sustained change right here in Texas.  Our social justice affiliates are empowering Texans and providing a voice to the voiceless. CSTX is serious about the need to make these changes in our society that is why we recruit some of the most forward thinking social justice affiliates who are committed to helping those who need it most.

The ACLU of Texas is at the forefront of advocacy for a variety of civil rights and civil liberties issues.
ACLU programs and projects focus on protecting fundamental rights and liberties in the Lone Star State, bringing focused attention to specific threats to rights and liberties and building diverse coalitions of groups to leverage collective power. The ACLU of Texas delves deeply into the causes of threats to civil rights and individual liberty in Texas.  The ACLU works in the areas of racial profiling and police accountability - indeed the entire spectrum of Texans' criminal justice concerns - has become a national model, and hasbrought common sense reforms in a conservative state. Likewise, the ACLU of Texas has reached beyond ACLU's traditional courtroom environment.  With continued support of members and donors, the ACLU of Texas will continue to exceed expectations and to broaden our reach until no one is above the law's authority and no one is beneath the law's protection.

Executive Director
Thank you for visiting us online!

Giving a voice to the voiceless, serving the disadvantaged populations and advocating to affect change in Texas is a daunting task.  But so many of the CSTX member agencies deserve thanks from all of us for their tireless and sometimes thankless work to provide such valuable services.

CSTX’s member agencies are on the firing lines, experiencing the untold, sometimes tragic stories of those underserved and frankly, ignored here in Texas. These populations don’t have financial wealth or hold political capital.  To often they are left without a voice in decisions that are made for them.   Many of the decisions effect the health and wellness or strip rights and equality under the cloak of assistance.  CSTX  member agencies  provide a voice to the voiceless in these decisions !

I love Texas !, but those in control of the state legilative agenda have left far too many behind and have widened the gap between the "haves and have-nots".  Our 25 member agencies confront these disparities and help those who have been forgotten to face these challenges day in and day out.  They provide resources to ensure equality, justice,  community education, advocacy and ensure public health and welfare to the most needy in our communities. These tireless advocates fly under the radar, quietly help and mostly go unrecognized for all they do.  They do it because they believe in their work.

As a Texan, I am deeply grateful for the unrelenting efforts and determination our members go through to make a difference ! CSTX compiments and enhances these efforts with essential programming and support to our member agencies.  We advocate on behalf of our progressive organizations for access to public employees like many of the more well known and popular charities.  As non-profits, our member agencies do paramount work with very little program capital and could do more with your help.

MAKE A DIFFEENCE and GIVE NOW !  Help keep the work of the agencies moving ahead, with a $25, $50, $75 or $100 contribution.  Your contribution will provide more assistance to the disadvantaged communities, economically challenged and underserved populations in Texas. With one donation to Community Shares of Texas you will help 25 progressive organizations all at the same time.

Help us provide the support and resources that will ensure our groups can keep going in these challenging economic times.

Thank you,
